I climbed a volcano

Ok, full disclosure I took a cable car up the side of a volcano but hey it counts. While I was definitely naive about how high the cable car ride was going to be (think how high you are in a plane lol), I’m definitely glad I did it now that I’m back on solid ground.
I have a certificate in egg balancing

That’s right, I balanced an egg on the head of a nail at the equator. One of only two people in our tour group to accomplish said feat and I’ve got a photo and certificate to prove it.
I straddled two hemispheres

I went to all three equatorial sites near Quito, Ecuador – Quitsato Mitad del Mundo, Museo de Sitio Intiñan, and the Mitad del Mundo Monument and of course took a picture at each. Note: the Mitad del Mundo Monument isn’t at the true equator, it’s about 790 feet off – the site calculations were done before GPS. I also learned at Quitsato Mitad del Mundo that the map as we know it should be turned on its side so that the continents are next to each other as opposed to stacked – “north” derives from a prefix meaning left not up as traditionally thought.

For those of us who are geographically challenged, does that mean you were standing on both sides of the globe at the same time?
