Four Days in the Middle of the World – Quito, Ecuador

Remember that love-hate relationship I have with heights? Why then did I think it was a good idea to not only go the middle of the world but also ride el Telefériqo? Quito, Ecuador is already the second highest capital city in the world at an altitude of 9,350 ft above sea level and well Telefériqo is literally climbing a mountain – taking you to an altitude of another 4,100 meters up the side of a volcano. I am so glad I didn’t make Ecuador a solo trip as had been a plan – I probably would’ve talked myself out of some pretty awesome experiences due to fear.
